Cultural traditions are often tied to language. As languages die out, so do their unique quirks that we have yet to truly understand. Languages are a way of thinking, and a part of human knowledge. When they die out, we lose a vital chunk of diversity. It leads to a loss of identity, and a loss of a shared culture, a shared people group. As globalization is furthered through increasing internet connections, more people leave their native languages behind to be forgotten. There are over 300 languages in the world currently that are endangered, and this number is only going to rise if nothing is done.
